VOLUNTEER

Volunteer at Cooloola Coast Kart Club Gympie QLD 4570

Our club is run by volunteers.

While karting is a competitive sport, many of our members race on the weekend for fun and enjoyment. Our members range in age from 7-70+ years of age – you are never too old to get in a kart! Cooloola Coast Kart Club prides itself on being a family friendly, inclusive club.

As a club we rely solely on volunteers to run our race weekends and keep the club moving forward. Our executive committee, all officials, including those in the Control Tower who oversee our race weekends, are volunteers. Without them we would not be able to hold our race meets. There are many ways to volunteer on a race weekend. Some roles require a full day, many roles require only 3-4 hour shifts. Volunteers can be family members, friends, or yourself. It is through the help of many that we will turn Cooloola Coast Kart Club from a good club into a great club! We would love to hear from you (or a family member) if you are able to assist in any way. Anyone in the community is able to be a volunteer. You do not need to be a club member.

In 2024, we are particularly looking for people interested in obtaining a Karting Australia Level Four or above official’s license. Once you hold this qualification, you may be eligible to assist with the following positions:

  • Control Tower Race weekend team (full day commitment)

(come and sit in air-conditioning during summer and heating during winter, with meals provided during the race day)

  • Timing

  • Lights

  • Stewards

Race Weekend Official (Half-full day commitment, lunch provided)

  • Grid Marshall

  • Scales Marshall

  • Recovery Vehicle Driver (full open driver’s license required)

  • On track safety official (during racing to ensure drivers are safe on track)

  •  General track safety (maintaining the track to Karting Australia standards)

Other volunteer roles within the club that do not require an official license include:

  • General Maintenance

Our club does require some general maintenance at times including mowing, weed spraying, bathroom cleaning and occasional building maintenance etc.

Pit Bay allocation

  • Assisting with pit bay allocation as people arrive for race day as well as putting out bins through the pit area for waste collection
